Where the MOQ comes from
The published MOQ is 500 pcs. That number is not a sales tactic: it is the batch size at which the pressing or turning line can run without scrapping material during setup. Below it, the setup cost is spread over fewer pieces and the unit price rises faster than the quantity falls.
The four price drivers
Grade and age of the bamboo strip, the finish (natural oil versus carbonised), the packing format (bulk, kraft sleeve, printed retail box), and the branding method. Laser engraving is cheap per unit but needs a clean flat face; screen printing on bamboo is the opposite. Ask for the price at two packing levels — the gap usually tells you more about the supplier than the headline number.
How to compare quotes that do not match
Put both quotes on the same basis: same size, same finish, same packing, same incoterm, same certificate set. Then compare the carton loading, because a supplier with a 12% worse 20GP count is more expensive even at a lower FOB price. If a quote does not state the carton and the loading count, it is not comparable yet.
Sample cost and how it is handled
Samples are charged at unit cost plus courier. The sample charge is credited against the bulk order when it is placed, which keeps the incentive on the buyer's side to test before committing. Sample lead time is about 7 days.
